about me!
thank you so much for being here! my name is Liv and I began Sheets in the Wind in July of 2025 with the goal of challenging myself creatively & reducing textile waste. my sewing journey really began during the pandemic when I made reusable masks out of beautifully designed fabric with the hope of reducing disposable masks. next on my path I worked at a sewing shop in Marquette, Mi all throughout college & learned so much from my friend and mentor, Cathe. my job description consisted of hemming, altering, and patching clothes for the boisterous community of environmentalist that praised the importance of extending the lives of their clothing. I would argue that also part of that job description was pulling tarot cards on the stoop and eating endless pastries from nearby cafes. after I graduated I took on little projects here and there like a denim purse and yoga mat strap, but I really committed in 2025 when I wanted a specific dress for summer and couldn’t find my vision at any thrift store. it was simple, two pieces of fabric from a thrifted fitted sheet and a small piece of elastic, but this dress was the catalyst for the confidence to start a business and sell my handmade clothes from secondhand materials. you can expect comfort and style from each unique piece. I have already grown so much in my skills and my mindset, and I’m so grateful that you are now part of my journey. cheers to fashion & sustainability.
